O'Brien House
Once again I was involved with a project that involved the extension and renovation, however this work was for an old Queenslander which had definite design regulations in order to maintain the architectural heritage of the Queenslander.
Through thorough analysis of codes and regulations, we where able to proceed with design ideas having been equipped with all the information we needed. In order to avoid a large mass bulked onto the site, we decided to split the dwelling in two; the existing block with a new proposed block to the rear and a link block joining the two. Materials chosen where weather board and fibre cement cladding in order to tie in and respect the construction of the existing Queenslander; yet applied in a way to bring a pre-1947 building into the modern world.
Again I was delegated the job of presenting the final presentation to the client due to my understanding of the project and my ability to communicate this clearly. Presentation included walk-throughs and renders along with working plans, elevations and sections to help the client gain complete understanding of the project.
